Upon entry to Wirra Wirra, every visitor passes Woodhenge, a 10-tonne post and rail fence made from raw, ancient redgum trunks. Built by hand, it is reminiscent of a fence from an early settler's bush cottage, that is, if the cottage was inhabited by giants. Woodhenge endures as a monument to the late re-builder of Wirra Wirra, Greg Trott, his grandiose ideas and unique vision.
Woodhenge Shiraz is blended from older McLaren Vale vineyards that have the intensity and structure to provide the rich, bold style that is the signature of this wine. It was matured in a combination of French and American oak barriques and hogsheads (40% new) for 18 months. The 2021 Woodhenge Shiraz can be cellared for up to 20 years.
