Shortlisted in Halliday Wine Companion Awards
Wirra Wirra is proud to announce its shortlisting for Best Value Winery of the Year in the Halliday Wine Companion Awards 2027, one of Australia's most respected wine awards programs.
The shortlist, selected by the Halliday Tasting Team, recognises the country's leading wineries, winemakers and viticulturists who have demonstrated excellence in Australian wine. The annual award celebrates producers delivering exceptional quality and value to wine drinkers across the nation.
For Wirra Wirra, the recognition highlights a philosophy that has guided the winery since its revival by founder Greg Trott, crafting wines of authenticity, generosity and character that consistently exceed expectations. Today, Chief Winemaker Emma Wood leads the winemaking team, focusing on expressive, site-driven wines that capture the character of South Australia's premier wine regions, McLaren Vale and the Adelaide Hills.
In announcing the 2027 shortlist, Halliday Wine Companion noted that value has become increasingly important for Australian wine consumers in the current climate. The publication's value assessment considers both wine quality and price, with wines receiving a coveted Value Rosette when they significantly outperform expectations within their category. This year, Wirra Wirra was awarded 14 Value Rosettes, the highest number achieved by any winery shortlisted for the award.
The recognition spans wines from across the Wirra Wirra portfolio and reflects a commitment to producing outstanding wines at a range of price points, from reliable, everyday favourites through to flagship releases.
Wirra Wirra is honoured to be recognised alongside some of Australia's most respected wine producers and we look forward to the announcement of the winners at the Halliday Wine Companion Awards ceremony on 19 August 2026.
